'NCIS' Season 12 Spoilers: Ducky's Past Explored, Title of Premiere Episode Revealed

In the upcoming season of "NCIS," fans will get to learn how one central member of the cast finally came to join the NCIS team. Also, the name of the premiere episode has been released, which may set the tone for the newest season.

Ducky will be the focus of episode three, "where people learn all kinds of things about his past and see a younger David McCallum, so we're excited about that," Gary Glasberg told TVLine.

Fans do know that Ducky and Gibbs go back quite a ways, but not much has been said about how he joined the NCIS team. When Gibbs lost his memory, it was Ducky who learned new information about Gibbs' past, and all along, Gibbs has seemingly known more about his friend than Ducky has about Gibbs' history, so this will be a treat for fans.

While the other major storylines for Season 12 include Jimmy Palmer's impending fatherhood and DiNozzo's possible new relationship, others are still a mystery. The last two seasons have been action-packed and full of surprises, including the loss of Cote de Pablo's Ziva David. This season looks to continue with the action, as the title of the premiere is "20 Clicks."

Viewers know that the original "NCIS" cast members will appear on the spin-off series "NCIS: New Orleans" in several arcs. It's sure to keep fans watching to see how other agencies operate and will benefit from Gibbs' experience and leadership. Mark Harmon, who plays Gibbs, is one of the executive producers for the spin-off series.

"As for when and how often, there's a lot that goes into planning and schedules and making sure Mark is here with NCIS but we'll keep the balls in the air and make it work as well as we can," Gary Glasberg told The Hollywood Reporter.

"NCIS" is one of CBS' highest-rated shows that was originally a spin-off and has led to two other series spin-offs: "NCIS: New Orleans" and "NCIS: Los Angeles."
