'NCIS' Season 13 Cast News, Spoilers: Will Michael Weatherly's Exit Bring In The Demise Of Tony DiNozzo?
After being on the show for 13 seasons, actor Michael Weatherly is finally leaving the hit police-procedural drama TV series "NCIS."
In a report from TVLine, it has been learned that the current season will be the last time that fans will get to see Special Agent Anthony "Tony" DiNozzo in action.
"After 13 years on NCIS, Michael Weatherly is leaving the show at the end of this season," the statement from the network reads and as quoted by the media outlet. "He is a valued part of the CBS family, and the immense charm and talent he brings to the screen as 'Very' Special Agent Tony DiNozzo has helped make NCIS what it is today – the No. 1 drama in the world."
CBS went on to thank the 47-year-old actor for his part in making the show one of the most successful small screen franchises. The statement, however, revealed that while he took off from the Mark Harmon-fronted series, he will still be greatly involved in an ongoing development deal with the network.
The actor himself went to his social media to express his gratitude for playing the role which he described to be a "wonderful, quixotic character." He also gave his thanks to the amazing crew and cast that make up the show.
"THANK YOU, it's been a fantastic ride!" he said on his Twitter account.
What's left now is the question regarding the fate of the Senior NCIS Special Agent. Speculations are rife indicating that the show might kill off the aforementioned character like it did with some of its previous cast members.
For those who missed it, Sasha Alexander left her role as Agent Kate Todd in Season 2 and her alter-ego was killed off in the process. Will the writers follow the formula?
Putting the casting report aside, "NCIS" Season 13 is yet to air another brand new exciting episode on Tuesday, January 19, called "Déjà Vu."
Stay tuned for more updates.
