Netflix App Updated on iPad and Android
Netflix just released their new redesigned application for the Android tablet.
The newly designed apps will also be available for the Kindle Fire and Nook Tablet, and should be available for the iPad in "the coming weeks."
In a statement released on the Netflix blog, the new design is reportedly “much more immersive and provides greater focus on the growing number of titles in the Netflix catalog. In fact, the new interface displays twice as many movies and TV shows as before, enabling you to discover even more titles you'll love. Also, we've taken greater advantage of the tablet's unique features, inviting you to swipe through rows of titles featuring larger artwork.”

The Netflix app comes as the holiday season quickly approaches and companies like Apple, Amazon, and other technology companies’ look to sell millions of tablet devices. The Amazon’s Kindle Fire and Nook Tablet for Barnes and Noble’s were just released this week.
“In the last 12 months we have seen a threefold increase in how long Netflix members are watching on their tablets,” said Neil Hunt, chief product officer at Netflix in a statement.
“We’re happy to debut a new user experience coinciding with the release of the next generation of devices from industry leaders. The new Netflix interface offers a significant improvement in browsing and searching for TV shows and movies to instantly watch,” Hunt added.
The news of the redesigned Netflix application is good new to a company that has faced negative press.
On Sept. 18, the video steaming giant tried to unsuccessfully separate its DVD section of Netflix and rename it Qwikster, while rising prices of its services.
After numerous customer complaints, the company quickly reverted to its original model on Oct. 10.
So far, the preview of the redesign can be viewed Netflix blog.
“Based on photos released (see below), the app looks similar to the Netflix website interface,” said Brian Solomon of Forbes.com. “There is a new “Continue Watching” row at the top that may be convenient to resume multiple shows and movies that users didn’t get a chance to finish.”
