Chris Christie in Hospital: New Jersey Governor Suffering Asthma Problems
New Jersey’s governor Chris Christie was taken to hospital Thursday suffering “breathing problems,” according to his spokesperson.
“Governor Christie was having difficulty breathing this morning and out of an abundance of caution he went to Somerset Medical Center to be checked out,” spokesman Michael Drewniak said in a statement.
“In line with someone dealing with asthma, he is being given routine tests as a precautionary measure. The Governor is extremely grateful for the quality of care he is receiving this morning and has nothing but praise for the world-class doctors, nurses, and staff.”

Christie, 49, is the 55th governor of New Jersey.
The governor has recently been in the media discussing his battle against his weight. Earlier this year on ABC he discussed his weight troubles with Diane Sawyer. “I got to get healthier,” he said.
Christie shared that he was working hard to lose weight the old fashioned way – through diet and exercise.
“Exercise is almost never really fun for me but I did it this morning … three mornings a week and then I do it on my own on Sunday,” Christie told Sawyer.
“It’s such a draining job from an energy perspective … I’m like I know one of the reasons I’m tired is because I’m too overweight. The more I’ve lost weight, the better I feel, the more energy I have,” said the governor.
Many Republicans have tried to persuade the New Jersey governor to run for president, but Christie has declined the proposition.
In Iowa Monday after attending an education conference and a congressional fundraiser, he told reporters again that he was not running for president.
Governor Christie is supposed to take questions in Hillsborough, N.J., tonight on “Ask the Governor,” a monthly call-in radio show. However, following today’s hospitalization there has not yet been an official announcement about whether he will be able to attend.
