Meanwhile, another person has died from injuries caused by the crash, raising the death toll to 10.

Some media have described the Nevada tragedy as “the worst air-racing disaster [in America].”

The World War II-era fighter plane crashed into box seats at the Reno Air Show.

Originally, seven people were reported dead (including the pilot, Jimmy Leeward, a real estate developer from Ocala, Fla.), but over the weekend the death toll rose to 10.

Seventy people are injured as a result of the crash.

Several witnesses told media outlets that Leeward had tried to move the plane as far away from the crowd as he could before he apparently lost control.

The investigation of the causes of the crash are ongoing. The investigators have recovered several key pieces of the plane - including flight data recorders. They are focusing on a piece of the plane's tail that was reportedly seen on photographs as snapping off right before the plane hit the crowd.

Many people in Reno offered help in tending to the victims or tried to help in other ways, according to AP.

"Everybody pulled together perfectly and worked side by side," Reno Fire Battalion Chief Tim Spencer told the agency during a Sunday press conference at the Reno Hospital.

The carnage has reportedly left even experienced emergency room surgeons and rescue workers shaken.
