NFL Free Agency Rumors: Karlos Dansby Joins Bengals
The Cincinnati Bengals finally made a move in free agency by acquiring linebacker Karlos Dansby, who last played for the Cleveland Browns. For the most part, this is a signing intended to provide the team some depth and much-needed help with Vontaze Burfict expected to start serving his three-game suspension.
The specific terms of the contract weren't disclosed, but it proves to be a major one for a team that hasn't really acquired a player outside of its roster this offseason. The only move management made earlier this month was re-signing current players. The veteran is a kind of player who can provide an immediate contribution and even some versatility in coverage.
The 31-year old was drafted in the second round of the 2004 NFL Draft by the Arizona Cardinals after becoming an All-American in college while playing for Auburn University. He played for the Cardinals from 2004 until 2009. He then signed a five-year deal in 2010 with the Miami Dolphins, before returning for another stint with the Cardinals. After that, he joined the Browns on a four-year deal in 2014, but was eventually released just two years into the contract. In the process, Cleveland was able to save a little over $3 million in salary cap space.

Per Bleacher Report, the linebacker didn't think of leaving the Browns after starring for them in a total of 16 appearances last season, where he produced 109 combined tackles, three forced fumbles, three interceptions, and two defensive TDs. However, the team decided to change direction by gearing up for rebuilding. With the hope of acquiring prospects and youngsters, that kind of scenery surely won't give Dansby the opportunity to win games. He has been very vocal on the hope of winning a Super Bowl before he retires; and he'll get a better chance at that with the Bengals than the Browns.
