NFL Rumors 2016: Alfred Morris Decides to Join Dallas Cowboys
Alfred Morris is returning to the NFC East, but this time he will be playing at the other side of the fence. After the Washington Redskins released the running back, he reached an agreement to play for the Dallas Cowboys, a division rival.
The 27-year old reportedly agreed to a two-year deal on Tuesday after spending four meaningful seasons as a starter for the Redskins. Although he retained his job as a starter for Washington last season, he had to face a huge uncertainty after the team's rushing scheme fared poorly the entire season. He split carries with Chris Thompson and rookie Matt Jones, but management eventually decided to let him go.
Morris produced 4,713 yards rushing in his career, with 29 TDs. He also saw himself playing better against the Cowboys, where he ran for 710 yards and made seven TDs in eight games, per stats from The Associated Press.

Morris' addition to the Cowboys lineup pretty much confirms the legitimacy of the squad's backfield talent this upcoming season. They already have Lance Dunbar and Darren McFadden, and with Morris' experience, it should be an interesting campaign for Jerry Jones' team.
The former college star at Florida Atlantic didn't waste time once he entered the league in 2012, impressing everyone with it athleticism and quickness. As a sixth round selection of the Redskins, he exceeded expectations in his first two years. However, he began struggling last season, maybe because of the heavy minutes he was required to play.
For the Redskins, losing Morris isn't that big a deal because they'll be relying on Matt Jones to do the heavy lifting for them. In Dallas, Morris will have plenty of help and there even is a possibility that the Cowboys will be looking to add another rusher with their late pick in the upcoming draft.
