Nick Cannon Forced to Quit Show Because of Declining Health
Nick Cannon was forced to quit his job as a radio host on 92.3 NOW (WXRK) in New York due to issues stemming from a blood clot.
Cannon said he would step down from the show after hosting for two years in order to focus on his health. The host explained his reasoning for leaving the show on the air Friday.
"The news is out. This job is killing me," Cannon said. "... What I need [is] to recuperate for my body to get stronger ... these are the hours I need to be sleeping. ... I've been going hard."

Cannon, who is also a comedian, spoke about the severity of his health situation on his last day at the radio morning show Friday. The entertainer admitted that he was back in the hospital last week because of his health issues.
"I actually had two blood clots in my lungs and because of the blood clots the right side of my heart was enlarged," Cannon said. "I have been in the hospital since Friday, and actually, it's quite serious. My antibodies [in] my immune system were attacking my organs and it made my body even weaker."
The health scare comes a little over one month after Cannon was hospitalized for mild kidney failure. His wife, Mariah Carey, initially called on fans to pray for her husband during the troubled times.
"Please pray for Nick as he's fighting to recover from a mild kidney failure," Carey tweeted last month. "We're trying to be as festive as possible under the circumstances but please keep Nick in your thoughts because this is very painful."
Although Cannon will no longer be a part of the 92.3 NOW morning show, he said that he would continue his syndicated "Cannon's Countdown" weekend show. He will also continue with hosting duties on the "America's Got Talent" television show.
CBS Radio and 92.3 issued a statement of support for Cannon recently.
"We respect and understand Nick's decision to step down from his day to day position as host of morning drive on 92.3 NOW, and fully support him as he takes on a less demanding role with the station in order to address his health," the statement read. "Everyone at the station and all of the CBS RADIO family wish him well, and look forward to his continuing contributions to 92.3 NOW."
