Nicki Minaj Receives Billboard Accolades After AMAs: Having The Best Year Ever?

After a whirlwind year following her studio album debut, Nicki Minaj has officially announced the release of her second album after receiving her first two AMA's and being honored by Billboard.

The Trinidadian born rap star took to her Twitter account to explain plans concerning her new music. After telling her fans that she would video chat with them via USTREAM, the rapper encountered technical difficulties and tweeted the big news instead.

“Its only right to announce it on the anniversary of Pink Fridy right barbz," Minaj tweeted to her fans. “Pink Friday: ROMAN RELOADED. Valentines Day 2012. Not a Re-Release. All new tracks. YMCMB. *salutes the nation*”

The announcement comes on the heels of Minaj winning her first two American Music Award honors last Sunday and opening up the show with a performance alongside David Guetta. The entertainer with a platinum selling debut will also be named Billboard’s Rising Star of 2011 on Dec. 2.

Although she will share the accomplishment with singer Taylor Swift, Minaj said she was expressing gratitude for the award.

"I am deeply honored to be recognized by Billboard," Minaj said."My nation of barbz and I have come a mighty long way; yet we are nowhere close to where God will take us. Sit back and enjoy the ride."

Bill Werde, Billboard’s editorial director, explained why the rapper deserved the recognition.

"Nicki Minaj has established herself as a force in hip-hop and pop music, and we're thrilled to recognize her accomplishments over the past year by honoring her as this year's Rising Star," Werde said. "Her unique style and powerful sound will undoubtedly lead to a long and lustrous career, and we look forward to seeing where she goes and what she does next."

Minaj will be the fourth woman to receive the award, with Colbie Caillat to win it in 2008, Lady Gaga as a recipient in 2009, and Jazmine Sullivan in 2010.
