Nicole Kidman, Mila Kunis Scheduled Guests on Sesame Street
“Sesame Street” will feature Nicole Kidman, Mila Kunis, and Emma Stone, among dozens of other celebrities in its upcoming season.
The 42nd season of the PBS preschool educational show will premiere on September 26 and will emphasize science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) subjects.
The STEM curriculum is a major part of the Obama administration. The new season will also include “Murray’s Science Experiments” where the orange monster will conduct age-appropriate science tests.

In an attempt to modernize the show, PBS announced Monday that guest stars will include Hollywood’s Mark Ruffalo, Naomi Watts, Amy Adams, and Robin Williams.
Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor will appear on Sesame Street in the fall, as well as Sofia Vergara. The “Modern Family” actress, Vergara will be featured on the Hispanic Heritage Month episode.
“’Sesame Streets’ curriculum fosters children’s natural inclinations to ask questions and encourages investigation and experimentation in order to make new discoveries,” said Vice President Dr. Rosemarie Truglio of Education and Research, Sesame Workshop.
Her statement continued, “By approaching STEM education as an integrated discipline through the process of scientific inquiry, rather than individual domains, the curriculum helps children develop a better understanding of how things work, and builds stronger cognitive reasoning, critical thinking and problem solving skills.”
The theme of the 42nd season is “Let’s Find Out,” and will also see guest appearances from famous athletes Carmelo Anthony and Drew Brees, musicians Bruno Mars and Jay Sean, and talk-show hosts Conan O’Brien, George Lopez and Craig Ferguson.
In the season premiere, “Sesame Street” viewers will watch the characters conduct an experiment with Murray involving a launching device to fly Hubert the Human Cannonball into a bucket of blue gelatin, according to the Associated Press.
“Sesame Street” has aired on PBS since 1969. As of 2009, the show had received eight Grammy Awards and 118 Emmy Awards and has been a top-rated children’s television program since its establishment.
