Nuns Adopt Dog That 'Nobody Else Wanted'; 9-Year-Old Pit Bull to Be Put Down (VIDEO)
After their long-time house dog died rcently, three nuns from Sisters of Our Lady of Christian Doctrine in Nyack, N.Y. went looking for a successor in the way I think Jesus would. Sr. Veronica Mendez told News 12 in Hudson Valley, "I purposely wanted a dog that nobody else wanted."
Last week, the sisters walked through Hi Tor Animal Care Center, looking for animals that would be euthanized. Then they found Remi.
Mendez said, "When I noticed that the sign said '9 years', I said, 'Virginia, we want this one,' because nobody else is going to want her."

Sr. Virginia Johnson thinks Remi, a 9-year-old pit bull, is a perfect fit at their community, whose mission is to "glorify God by its commitment to Jesus through prayer, a simple lifestyle, celibate love and Christian charity."
"She's a senior, we're seniors," she said of the sisters, all over 70. "And she's a gentle dog and friendly."
The nuns' love for the neglected didn't gone unnoticed. Inspired by their story, two workers at the animal shelter paid for Remi's adoption.
