Obama Prom Photos: President at 17 With Date (PHOTO)
New photos of President Obama attending his prom in 1979 have surfaced.
As the plans for proms at high schools across the country unfold, with new and unforgettable memories to be made, old memories come to mind for some. Some of those memories only captured by a photo or a note, just about everyone has one- even the President.
Photos of President Obama attending the prom at Punahou School in Hawaii have been made public by Time magazine. At the age of 17, Obama can been seen wearing a white sports coat over a dark blue button down and light blue tie. He is pictured with a blonde in a light blue dress, presumably his date, and two other friends just before their senior prom in 1979.

Kelli Allman, one of the friends depicted in the picture, provided the photos. She attended the prom that year with Greg Orme, who was "like a brother" to Obama she says, and Obama's date, Megan Hughes.
"It was a really fun, happy time. We were all cracking up, and everyone was smiling," Allman told Time magazine in an interview. "It was pretty typical from there out as far as what happens at prom: the dinner and the dancing and the photos."
Allman also shared a yearbook message that was addressed to her by the President.
"You are extremely sweet and foxy," the message reads at one point, "I don't know why Greg would want to spend any time with me at all. You really deserve better than clowns like us. You even laugh at my jokes!"
Later on her also offers to hang out with Allman and buy her lunch while her boyfriend, Greg, is out of town. The message is signed "Your Friend. Love. Barack Obama."
Alman also had nothing but positive things to say of the President.
"He was very intelligent and witty. He and I really clicked. We had great vibes between us," she told the magazine of Obama.
