Obama Upstaged by Funny Elf at Christmas Concert
A viral photo is circulating the Internet showing the Obama family laughing at the antics of an adorably dressed elf who evidently stole the show at the 32nd annual Christmas in Washington concert on Sunday evening.
Sunday's benefit event was hosted by actor Hugh Jackman for the Children's National Health System in Washington, D.C., and included performances by Sheryl Crow, Janelle Monae, Backstreet Boys, Anna Kendrick and Pat Monahan.
After the Obamas helped collect presents for patients at the Children's National Medical Center, five of the hospital's patients, dressed as elves, stood with the first family in front of a large Christmas tree to have their photo taken. "Hey, you guys, you going to help us?' the first lady asked the elves as they approached for their picture.

"Good job, elves," the president laughed, adding "Nice job."
Once all five elves were positioned with the first family and ready for pictures, Michelle Obama asked the photographers to make funny faces to entertain the kids. One of the elves, standing on the far left of the first family, took Michelle's suggestion to heart, sticking her hands in her mouth and pulling her cheeks apart to make a funny face, resulting in laughter from both the Obamas and the photographers.
After a night of performances and caroling at the National Building Museum, the president reflected on the importance of charity and compassion as taught by Jesus. "Through his example, he taught us that we should love the Lord, love our neighbors, as we love ourselves. It's a teaching that has endured for generations. And today, it lies at the heart of my faith and that of millions of Americans, and billions around the globe."
"No matter who we are, or where we come from, or how we worship, it's a message of hope and devotion that can unite all of us this holiday season," he added.
Host Hugh Jackman also spoke during the event, urging the importance of compassion while also taking a jab at the Washington Redskins NFL team. "It is the season of compassion. Let us not forget those who are down and out, who are suffering and who have little hope: the Washington Redskins fans," Jackman said. "I can say it, I'm a Giants fan." Both the Redskins and the Giants lost their games Sunday.
Along with the several performances at Sunday night's event, retired NBA player Charles Barkley also spoke about the importance of the Children's Hospital in Washington. The Christmas concert will be broadcast on TNT on Dec. 20.
