As it turns out, the mailed present was supposed to be opened by Sasha and Malia's godmother Kaye Wilson, but was delivered to the wrong person- Alane Church.

Church appeared on NBC's "Today Show" describing the present and explaining that it had arrived at the bottom of a different package she had received on Thursday.

"The gifts were broken opened, parts of the old box were in this box repackaged," he said, according to The Washington Post. "In the bottom of the box was the extra gift, and we were reading the tag, trying to figure it out, you know, where this came from and it was opened. We discovered this was a personal gift for Mama Kaye."

Those who are close to Kaye Wilson know her has "Mama Kaye," including the Obamas'.

Church went on to describe only some of the gift since "it is private for Mama Kaye."

"It's very special, very special," he said on the "Today Show."

Nevertheless, Church revealed the cover of the homemade photo book, which featured a photo of Malia Obama smiling at the camera.

"Private moments of their year 2013 together," Church added without opening the book.

Meanwhile, it is considered a felony to open someone else's mail. The federal statue that applies to the postal service is found in Chapter 83 in the federal code, which is called Obstruction of Correspondence.

The U.S. Postal Service said it was investigating the incident, according to Politico.
