Obama's New Dog Sunny Introduced (PHOTOS)

President Obama and his family welcomed another four-legged member to their clan in the White House this week- a puppy named Sunny.

Also a Portuguese water dog, Sunny joins the First Family's four-year-old dog Bo as a member of the family that includes Barack, Michelle, and their daughters Sasha and Malia.

On Monday, The White House announced the new family addition on their blog.

"Sunny was born in Michigan in June 2012 and arrived at the White House today," read the post, which included an adorable YouTube video featuring Sunny adjusting to her new surroundings.

Sunny and Bo's hypoallergenic breed is just right for the Obama family, since 15-year-old Malia suffers from allergies. While Bo has a white chest and two front white paws, Sunny is all black.

Furthermore, "Sunny is the perfect little sister for Bo- full of energy and very affectionate- and the First Family picked her name because it fit her cheerful personality," the blog read.

The Obama's decision to expand their family arose after First Lady Michelle Obama had hosted a "doggie play date" in October since "Bo doesn't have enough dog interaction," Mrs Obama told reporters.

However, with Sunny, Bo will have plenty of playtime.

Also, Sunny will help out with official duties. In the past, Bo has attended events at Walter Reed and the Children's National Medical Center and helped greet guests at the White House along with the First Family, and now Sunny will join in.

"We suspect Sunny will follow in Bo's footsteps and keep the President company in the Oval Office, go for walks with the First Family after their 6:30 family dinner and even jump on the First Lady's lap from time to time," The White House blog noted.

During the holidays last year, Bo was the star of the Obama's Christmas card. Painted by Larassa Kabel from Des Moines, Iowa, the card featured Bo with a red scarf sitting before the White House in a snowy scene.
