The upcoming return of "Once Upon a Time" season 5 is expected to bring more challenges to many characters.

The midseason finale of "Once Upon a Time" season 5 had led to the need to explore the Underworld. With that, many characters are expected to take a trip to the Underworld, where they will encounter many past characters of the series.

Some of the characters that are reported to make appearance in the Underworld include Peter Pan, Zelena, and even Neal. Fans are hoping that Neal's potential appearance in the series could allow for some closure.

However, it was recently reported that the Underworld will not be the only challenge faced by the people of Storybrooke. It was said that the relationship between Belle, played by Emilie de Ravin, and Rumple, played by Robert Carlyle, will also have their own journey in the episodes to come.

Spoilers reveal that their relationship will continue to evolve in the episodes to come. According to TV Line, the executive producer of the series, Adam Horowitz, also shared some interesting details about the couple.

He said, "We left them in a place where that relationship was evolving. We're not abandoning any of those story threads and we're hoping to pick up on them in an unexpected way."

In addition, Horowitz also revealed some details regarding their plans for Belle, "We have plans to keep Belle busy. Although she didn't get on the boat [to the Underworld] with our heroes, she's important to the story and becomes very involved. We left [Belle and Rumple] in a place where that relationship was evolving. We're not abandoning any of those story threads, and we're hoping to pick up on them in an unexpected way."

"Once Upon a Time" season 5 episode 12, titled "Souls of the Departed," is expected to show on ABC this Mar. 6.
