Oprah Winfrey Wants George Zimmerman Interview

Oprah Winfrey recently shared her views on the Trayvon Martin case and while she was appalled that investigators are yet to make an arrest, the former talk show host revealed that George Zimmerman is at the very "top" of her list of people who she would like to interview.

"I would love to talk to him!" Winfrey told "Extra's" AJ Calloway about Zimmerman adding, "oh my goodness! It is a tragedy and it is a shame that we're sitting here 33 days later and there hasn't been an arrest or questioning of actually what happened!" Winfrey told.

"It's a tragedy and it's a shame and we all know it! I saw some people on Twitter saying 'well has nothing changed? The same thing is going on,' ... yeah lots has changed, you know why? Because black people, white people, brown people all over this world are saying the same thing, it's a tragedy and it's a shame and justice needs to be served!" she added.

Winfrey's comments follow reports that Zimmerman, the self-appointed neighborhood watch captain who shot and killed 17-year-old Martin, is claiming self defense.

The 28-year-old claims that Martin, who was unarmed outside of his Sanford, Fla. home on Feb. 26, attacked him and ultimately provoked the deadly shooting although new evidence suggests otherwise.

A viral video, which shows Zimmerman with police after Martin was gunned down, shows him looking relaxed and calm as he is escorted from a police vehicle.

The video could pose legal trouble for Zimmerman's defense team if the case is taken to court, because it shows "no blood or bruises," according to ABC News.

Zimmerman claims that his nose was broken and that he sustained heavy bleeding allegedly after being jumped by Martin, and the video contradicts this theory.

Zimmerman is reportedly complaining that the investigation is simply a "witch hunt," and he expects to be arrested soon in connection with Martin's death, according to Radar Online.

"George thinks the new round of investigations are nothing but a witch hunt. The Sanford Police Department cleared him on any wrongdoing, and the fact that the feds and the state are now involved just shows that the agencies are only responding to the public demands for his arrest," a source close to Zimmerman told Radar.

"George expects to be arrested in connection with Trayvon's death, even though he vehemently maintains that he shot Trayvon in self-defense," the source added.

The case continues to spark public outrage, and according to reports a growing number of Americans believe that Zimmerman should be arrested for killing Martin.

"Nearly two-thirds of whites and 86 percent of non-whites say Zimmerman should be arrested … as well as majorities of Republicans, Democrats and independent voters," CNN Polling Director Keating Holland has said.
