'Orange Is The New Black' Season 4 News: Laverne Cox Teases Details About Sophia; Yael Stone Speaks About 'Big Changes'
Aside from the fact that Netflix's hit original jailbird drama series "Orange Is The New Black" has been renewed for three more seasons, it's also exciting to know that there's only three months left to wait before the show returns to the small screen.
Recent reports indicate that the upcoming season 4 will pick up right after the events that took place back in season 3. Laura Prepon, who plays the character Alex in the show, told Entertainment Weekly back in January that the new instalment happens exactly "five seconds" later after the previous season. She pointed out to the media outlet that fans will get to see more of the "love each other and they hate each other" kind of relationship between her character and Piper Chapman (Taylor Schilling).
Dishing further details about the new season is cast member Yael Stone, who plays the part of Lorna Morello. She told Australia News during her visit at the continent how happy she is to have joined the critically acclaimed series. She shared to the news outlet how that one "bright red lipstick" earned her a spot. She went on to admire the show's significant efforts in addressing real-life issues like diversity and incarceration.
Stone likened the series to that of a family, and for her, season 4 promises to reveal "some big changes" that are about to happen to them.
Speaking of changes, another cast member, Laverne Cox, previews what's in store for her interesting character, Sophia Burset. For those who missed it, Sophia and Gloria's (Selenis Leyva) friendship falls off. It appears that it will be a long time before fans can see the two, who were once inseparable, return to each other's company.
"I don't think that can be repaired," Cox told TVGuide.com. In that same interview, the actress pointed out that much of season 4 will address "even deeper into the pertinent issues that affect folks who are incarcerated."
"Orange Is The New Black" season 4 returns to Netflix on June 17.
