Oscars 2016 Nominations: 'The Revenant' and 'Mad Max' Dominate 88th Academy Awards Nominations
As the 88th Academy Awards draws near, the excitement is imminent, and fans all over the world are anticipating to find out if Leonardo DiCaprio will finally get his first Oscars after decades in the industry.
First of all, the official list of nominees has already been posted on the Oscars website and DiCaprio is, of course, on the list for Best Actor. While he is being rooted by many celebrities and news outlets, as well as experts in the field, the competition is very interesting with Matt Damon ("The Martian"), Bryan Cranston ("Trumbo"), Michael Fassbender ("Steve Jobs"), and Eddie Redmayne ("The Danish Girl") in the list.
Multiple outlets, including The Hollywood Reporter, have their hopes high on delivering a first Oscar to the "Revenant" star and it is expected that if he doesn't win this year's Best Actor Award, the Academy Awards will once again receive a wave of rage from fans and movie enthusiasts.

Meanwhile, the competition is a lot more intense in the Best Picture nominations as eight movies, including "Mad Max: Fury Road," are going head-to-head for the gold. Although it still is second to "The Revenant," which has 12 nominations, the movie is expecting to bag a lot of awards this year.
In an interview with Women's Weekly, director George Miller expressed his excitement after his movie received 10 nominations, this year's second most nominated movie. "It's a party I didn't expect to be invited to. Needless to say we're doing little happy jigs and it's really nice to be invited to the party," he said.
Miller first won an Oscar for "Happy Feet," and though his 2016 contender has already received a wave of praise and good reviews, he said it was an honor to be put up against other amazing films.
For now, fans will just have to wait until the 88th Academy Awards, which will be held at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood on Feb. 28, to find out if DiCaprio will finally get the golden statue and if Miller will receive his second Oscar.
