Pastor Ed Young Talks to Miami Dolphins QB Ryan Tannehill; Tells Church to 'Huddle' as Christians
Taking his teaching series "Quarterback" forward, Texas megachurch Pastor Ed Young spoke one on one with Miami Dolphins quarterback Ryan Tannehill about the importance faith in his NFL career, and then taught his congregation what is the Christian equivalent of the huddle.
The Sunday sermon at Fellowship Church in Grapevine began with the screening of a video, in which Young interviews Tannehill, who's a committed Christian.
Tannehill told Young he wanted to be an NLF quarterback since he was a kid, and that he kept chasing that dream, working toward it each and every day. "God blessed me; here I am," he said.

To be a quarterback, "you have to be able to think, you have to make quick decisions, control what's going on around you, know exactly what every person around you is supposed to be doing …," Tannehill said.
"I love that role," he said, adding that a leader must bring the best out of those around him, earn the respect of his team members and have tough conversations.
Tannehill said he grew up in a church, and accepted Christ at a summer camp when he was in seventh grade.
Asked about the importance of church, he said, "Your personal time with God is huge, your quiet time, your study, prayer, but being around other Christian followers … and the church just feeds you. You come away feeling rejuvenated, you get a great message."
He also said, "Christ is the anchor of my life," and it doesn't mater which church you go to.
Young, who interviewed Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo last Sunday, told is congregation that the huddle is not the play, and asked: "Are you in the huddle?"
Biblically speaking, God wants us to be part of a huddle, he said.
Young added that Jesus, who is our quarterback, gathered the 11 disciples together, or huddled them up, and gave them a play right before He ascended into heaven, according to Matthew 28:19-20.
"Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you. And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age," the passage reads.
Jesus said He had all authority in Heaven and on Earth, after dying on the cross and the Resurrection, and that the "playing field" is no longer just the Jews but the whole world, the megachurch pastor said.
Today, the church is the huddle, Young explained, and said we must get to the huddle otherwise we won't know want to do, stressing on the importance of a church in a believer's life.
But after the "huddle," we play the "game," Young said, pointing to the Great Commission. Each of us has been given a position to play, as we are all unique, he added.
In conclusion, the pastor gave four instructions on how to "huddle." Don't muddle in the huddle, don't cuddle in the huddle, be trustful in the huddle and hustle out of the huddle.
