Pastry Gun Suspension: Josh Welch, 7, Suspended for Pop Tart Gun
School officials have come under fire for suspending a 7-year-old boy accused of biting his Pop Tart pastry into the shape of a gun.
Josh Welch, a second-grader at Park Elementary School in Baltimore, claims that he was trying to bite his Pop Tart into the shape of a mountain. His teacher however, after seeing the pastry, believed that it resembled a gun. According to school officials, Welch pointed the pastry and said "bang, bang."
"All I was trying to do was turn it into a mountain but, it didn't look like a mountain really and it turned out to be a gun [kind of]," Josh told Fox News, adding that he never said "bang, bang" with the pastry although he admitted to pointing the Pop Tart towards the ceiling.

Welch, who has been diagnosed with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder according to reports, was then sent home from school on a two-day suspension. His father, who remained unidentified at the time of the report, has referred to the situation as "insanity."
"It's a pastry, you know," he said according to Yahoo, adding that no one was harmed by his son.
People on social media sites were critical of the boy's teacher and the school principle, stated that both had made poor judgment calls.
"The school district, teacher and principal owe Joshua and his parents an apology!" Brenda Perez wrote on Facebook.
"Fire the teacher he/she is an idiot. It began with the teacher sending the child to the principle," Ann Parent added. "If this person cannot ascertain the difference between right from wrong and can see creativity in the making regardless of the type, then she is at fault."
School officials declined to comments on the situation, citing privacy issues.
