Outspoken Christian evangelist Pat Robertson declared murdering someone in a video game was the same as murdering someone in real life, on a recent episode of the 700 Club.

"I think mayhem, killing, Grand Theft Auto, they get pretty bizarre. So if you're murdering somebody in cyberspace in a sense you're performing the act, whether you like it or not," he said on the program.

Many feel Robertson's comments on video games were a little over the top, but the television preacher was able to tie in his point with scriptural and Biblical references.

"Jesus said, 'if you look upon a woman with thoughts lust in your heart, you've committed adultery with her,' so that's a virtual sin," he continued.

Robertson's statement came after a receiving a question from a viewer.

"What do you think the bible has to say about video games? Is there a way to interpret the Bible for 'virtual sins? I'm not the type of person who would do half of these things in games in real life, but does God see it as a sin if we enjoy them in a virtual setting?" asked the viewer.

The CBN chairperson admitted to never playing a video game, but he felt a strong conviction based on what he said.

Just last month Robertson equated "demonic" video games to the rise of suicide in teenagers.

So what do you think about video game murder and "sins," are they equal to the real thing?
