Pat Robertson Tells Christian Woman to Skip Sister's Gay Wedding (VIDEO)
Friday on the Christian Broadcasting Network's "The 700 Club," host Pat Robertson answered a unique, tough, and possibly controversial question from a viewer with biblical advice. The woman wrote into the show with concerns over whether or not she should be a bridesmaid in her sister's wedding, as her sister is a lesbian marrying her long-time partner.
The woman's question was featured in the "Bring It On" segment of the proram. "I don't know what to do. If I don't agree [to be a bridesmaid] our relationship will be ruined. I don't even know if I should attend the wedding much less be a part of it," she said of her dilemma.
Robertson admitted that the woman, identified as "Kathryn" by co-host Terry Meeuwsen, was faced with "a hard decision," but quickly added that "the Bible is so clear about homosexuality." He quoted the book of Romans to explain the biblical view on homosexuality, saying, "Wherefore God gave [homosexuals] up and having given them up, they did evil things with their own bodies.'" He advised the woman not to be a bridesmaid and not to attend the wedding.

He told her to tell her sister, "I love you, but I cannot participate in a ceremony that is contrary to God's word." Robertson explained that going to a same-sex wedding would be sending a message of approval. "If you go, what you're doing is saying 'I bless this union and I agree that what you're doing is right,'" he said.
Robertson's suggestion, however, is not unanimous among Christian leaders. Last year, in an appearance on "Piers Morgan Tonight" on CNN, megachurch pastor Joel Osteen was asked if he would ever attend a homosexual wedding. Osteen, who leads Lakewood Church in Houston, Texas, said he would attend if the couple were "friends of mine and I respected them." He clarified that he would go because he is "not going to disrespect somebody that was dear to [him and his wife]." Most recently, Osteen affirmed in an interview with Oprah Winfrey that the Bible teaches that homosexuality is a sin. He added, however, that homosexauls who repent of their sins, can make it into heaven.
On Friday's "The 700 Club," Robertson acknowledged that his advice to skip the wedding might be hard for the questioner and her sister's relationship, but if skipping the wedding on moral grounds destroys the relationship, "that's tough luck."
