Patrick Ewing Jr. Maintains Faith on Twitter Despite D-League Criticism

Patrick Ewing Jr., the son of New York Knicks Hall-of-Famer Patrick Ewing who currently plays for the NBA D-League as a forward, has been using his Twitter account as a place to glorify God.

Ewing, a 27-year-old who entered the NBA in 2008 with the Sacramento Kings, has had a turbulent with his professional basketball career. Although he has played for the New York Knicks, Houston Rockets and New Orleans Hornets, many of those teams traded and waived him before he ended up in the Development League where he currently plays for the Iowa Energy.

With various injuries throughout the years and trouble staying on one team for a long period of time, Ewing has maintained that he is blessed.

"Even if you aren't where you want to be in life, thank God for where you're at," the Christian basketball player wrote on his Twitter account. "There is always someone who would love to be where you are. #Blessed."

The Iowa Energy is the number five seed out of eight teams in its conference. Still, many have poked fun at the son of a legend for being a player that had been traded and waived within the Developmental League before finding a home with the Energy.

"The only reason that Luke Walton and Patrick Ewing Jr. made it to the league was because of who their dads were," one person Tweeted.

Another Twitter user questioned why the son of the Hall-of-Famer needed to be in the Developmental League at all.

"Patrick Ewing Jr is in the D-league," the person questioned "Doesn't he get an automatic pass?"

However, Ewing does not seem to be focused on the criticism. Instead, the 27-year-old who refers to himself as a "Child of God" on his Twitter biography, said he would praise the Lord at all times.

"I will always praise the Lord at all times. I will constantly speak his praises Psalm 34:1," Ewing tweeted recently. "When you put God first, he promises to honor you."
