As "Pokemon Go" is taking the entire world by storm, it's no wonder everyone wants to be the very best.
But don't worry, in a game where you "gotta catch 'em all," you're just on equal footing as much as the next guy. No need to fret over a ton of misinformation that's likely to be false anyway, like being able to catch a legendary Pokemon, or an algorithm that will allow you to compute your distance from the next Pokemon in your area.
We do have, however, a list of tips and cheats that could helpfully get you to complete your Pokedex and up some notches to level 30:

1. Visit populated areas
If you want to find lots of Pokemon, you might want to check out your nearest parks. Most of the time, a lot of Pokestops are near the area, which would provide you with a huge supply of Pokeballs. With a dense population, you're also likely to run into Poketrainers who are using Lures--which would attract Pokemon to your area for thirty minutes.
In addition, it's also better to hunt in pairs or groups, because Pokemon appear and can be caught by everyone. This will allow you to cover more ground for three-footstep Pokemon.
2. Get Pikachu as your starter pokemon
Just like Ash, the only way to get Pikachu as your starter Pokemon is to NOT choose among Bulbasaur, Squirtle, and Charmander. Instead, ignore them four times (no matter how hard it may be for you to do so), and the fifth time they reappear, they'll have Pikachu with them!
3. Take note of rustling leaves--and the correct way to throw a Pokeball
Once you notice rustling leaves then you'll know a Pokemon may be nearby. The smaller the white rings are, the more likely you can catch it. Wait for it to turn green, though, for a high chance of getting that Dragonite!
Moreover, aim your Pokeball into the smallest yellow/orange circle for more throw bonuses--and more XP!
4. Evolve your Pokemon!
Here's the deal--it's easy to shrug off commonplace Pokemon such as Weedle, Rattata, and Pidgey, but actually, the trick is to evolve them (they cost so few candy). Doing so gives you a fat payout of 500XP--which will allow you to level up as a Trainer and catch more powerful Pokemon!
Moreover, you should trade them in to Professor Willow--he'll give you one candy for every Pokemon that you do.
And another thing--once you hit Level 9, you'll get a Lucky Egg which doubles your XP for 30 minutes. So save your Pokemon evolutions within that time frame for a crazy amount of XP hype.
5. Throw a curve ball
To catch a rare Pokemon, you have to use a Curve Ball throw--hold the Pokeball down and then make circular rotations with your finger. The Pokeball should then start to emit sparkles.
6. Keep an eye out for Pokestops
If a Pokestop is shrouded in pink petals, that means someone's using Lure--haul yourself to the area to get yourself some Pokemon!
7. Don't sweat over your team!
Once you hit level 5, you'll have to choose between Team Valor, Mystic, and Instinct. There's actually no difference, unless you want to be on the same team with your friends.
