Pokemon X and Y News: Games May Feature a Transgender Character
The latest Pokemon X and Y games could feature a transgender character.
This character appears to hint at the fact that she could have been a different gender at one time, according to a report from Kotaku.
"Yes, a mere half year ago I was a Black Belt! Quite the transformation, wouldn't you say?" says this character in the English version, who now appears to be female.

She is actually an opponent in the Battle Mission. What she says differs a bit in the original Japanese version with reads "Only half a year ago, I was a Karate King. The power of medical science is amazing, isn't it?"
Karate King is a term that can be used for both genders in Japanese while the Black Belt term is used exclusively for males in the English version. Their female counterparts would be known as Battle Girls.
A Twitter user confirmed that this quote in the Japanese version might have been used to parody another non-playable character's statement made earlier in the game.
The new Pokemon X and Y anime will debut in English on Jan. 18 on Cartoon Network.
A new trailer has been made available for those interested in the new series, which has already begun airing in Japan. Eleven episodes have been released and the show is currently on hiatus until Jan. 9, 2014, which is just 9 days before it hits the U.S.
The preview gives fans a good look at what's to come with the Pokemon anime series. The first episode scheduled to air in the States will be accompanied by another special one titled "Mewtwo: Prologue to Awakening."
Familiar characters such as Ash from previous animated iterations of Pokemon will make their return in this new series.
