He said, "From the very beginning, diversity was a very important part of the whole process. We switched all of the races around, but we made sure that the essence of each of those characters are who they were in the original show, and this really will be an origin story of those characters."

In addition, he explained that they aim to reflect the lives of teenagers today. With that, fans can expect "Power Rangers" to be a coming of age story.

Along with the iconic characters, the movie will feature Elizabeth Banks as the villain of the film. She will take on the role of Rita Repulsa, who will be a quirky villain. Israelite also shared his excitement regarding her involvement.

He said, "It's very exciting that we got [Banks], and I think what she loves is the opportunity to really embrace the insanity and deliciousness of Rita Repulsa in terms of how weird and wonderful that character was, and really dive into and consume that character."

"Power Rangers" the movie is expected to hit theaters on Mar. 24, 2017.
