The winning combination during the previous draw was 2-23-41-53-63 with Powerball 11 and Power Play 2x. With no player matching these numbers, the top prize for Wednesday has now reached more than $180 million with a cash option of $125.3 million.

Match 5 Winners

Even though there was no lucky bettor for the jackpot prize, there were two Match 5 winners from New Jersey and Missouri. One of them bagged $1 million while the other winner included a Power Play option, winning $2 million.

Powerball added that there were more than 700,000 winners for the previous draw with the lottery game handing out almost $9 million in prizes. Forty-four states in the U.S. are able to join this lottery game including Puerto Rico, Washington D.C. and the US Virgin Islands.

How to Play the Powerball

Residents interested in playing Powerball for a chance to win big prizes can simply place their bets every Wednesday and Saturday an hour before the 10:59 p.m. scheduled draw. Five white balls and a red ball are drawn from two ball batches to determine the winning numbers.

Tickets for Powerball cost $2 each. The drawing of the balls can be witnessed live through this Powerball link and via television stations authorized to show the draw.

To be declared the jackpot winner, a bettor should get all the numbers in no particular order. If a lucky individual gets the jackpot, the winner can choose to be paid with an initial amount, with the remaining to be given in a period of 29 years. A cash lump sum option can also be chosen though the player would still need to pay the tax.

Power Play Add-on

Another feature of the lottery is the so-called Power Play, which can be bought for an additional $1. This will increase non-jackpot prizes by as much as five times its original value.

To explain the process to potential jackpot winners, Powerball noted that receiving the winnings in tranches could increase the yearly value of the money by 5 percent. This is because the lottery invests this amount to grow and help the winning bettor. If a player chooses to get the lump sum amount, he can decide where to invest his or her money.

Do you have with you the winning ticket? If yes, you can proceed to any CT lottery retailer or the Powerball headquarters to validate that ticket and claim the jackpot prize.
