UPDATE - June 29, 2016 - 11:00 p.m. ET - Winning numbers for Wednesday night are 23, 29, 37, 60, 64, and the powerball is 6. Powerplay is 2x.
The top prize for Powerball continues to climb and has now reached $222 million for Wednesday's draw.
Still No Jackpot Winner
On its official website, the lottery game announced that there was no player who was able to match all the numbers drawn last Saturday. The winning combination for the previous draw was 3, 27, 36, 56, 69 and the Powerball 25.
This has raised the jackpot prize to more than $200 million with an equivalent cash value of $151.5 million. Even though no one bagged the highest offering for Powerball, there were four Match 5 winning tickets in West Virginia, New York, Oregon and Louisiana with a prize of $1 million.
The West Virginia winning ticket was sold at the Beckley Crossing Shopping Center. The winning bettor is advised by the West Virginia Lottery to sign the back of the ticket and contact the state's gaming outlet on how to claim the prize.
How to Play Powerball
U.S. residents who want a shot at winning millions of dollars can follow the simple mechanics of the game. They could buy tickets worth $2 and bet on six lucky numbers. A person wins when all five numbers from the white balls and one number from the red balls match the draw results in no particular order.
If there is a declared winner for the day's draw, he or she can choose to receive it in 29 annual payment. There is also the option of a cash lump sum payment but it will be cleared of taxes first.
What are the Payment Options?
Powerball noted that if a winning bettor chooses to get the money through the annual payment option, there is a big chance that the amount per year could increase by about 5 percent because the uncollected amount will be invested.
Aside from the jackpot, a $1 million second prize can also be won by getting all five white numbers. The amount will be paid in cash with no option to get it in installments.
Multiply Winnings with Power Play
For non-jackpot prizes, players can also increase their winnings with the so-called Power Play, which is an $1 add-on for the Powerball ticket giving gamers the chance to get as much as five times than what they originally won.
Powerball advises its bettors to key in their number combinations an hour before the scheduled draw so that their bets will be included on the draws scheduled every Wednesday and Saturday at 10:59 p.m. A livestream of the draw can be watched through this link.
