'Preachers' Daughters': Ministers Talk Godly Parenting Amid Children's Issues
The lives of ministers and their daughters have been documented in the new Lifetime series "Preachers' Daughters," which have led the fathers on the show to speak up about keeping their cool while dealing with controversy presented by their offspring.
In the latest episode of "Preachers' Daughters," the Colemans, Koloffs and Perrys were forced to keep their cool while dealing with difficult situations presented by their children. Taylor Coleman, the 18-year-old daughter of Pastor Ken Coleman of City of Refuge Pentecostal Church in Joliet, Ill., attempted to convince her parents to expand her curfew and let her date after she was caught lying about attending a hotel gathering with the opposite sex present.
Pastor Ken Coleman opened up to The Christian Post about how he dealt with some of the hardships concerning his daughter as she struggled with temptation.

"The scripture tells us we should always pray..it tells us in all your ways acknowledge God and he'll direct our paths. I just believe that, whenever my children come to me with anything," Pastor Coleman told CP. "I believe we should pray first and then I'll talk later. That's why God gave us two ears to listen and one mouth to speak. Always listen to God first."
Pastor Mark Perry of Everyday Church in Oceano, Calif., helped his daughter Olivia seek legal counsel after she learned that her daughter's father was not the man she initially thought it was. Although the Pastor explained that there have been situations in his family life where he has had to be stern with his 18-year-old daughter after she made mistakes, he revealed why he chose to take a godly approach to parenting.
"We have to decide as parents when the horse is already out of the barn. When something is done it's done. It can't be undone," Pastor Perry told CP. "So we can scream at people all we want but that just creates shame and shame isn't a biblical concept. That's what the devil does, it's not what God does."
Kolby Koloff, the 16-year-old who is being raised by two preacher parents in the form of Nikita and his ex-wife Victoria, has been adamant about fighting sexual temptation faced by many teengers. On the latest episode of the show, Kolby's mother speaks to her about avoiding making the mistake of having sex before marriage.
Victoria Koloff said that other people witnessing her approach to godly parenting has been one of the better parts about appearing on the show.
"The best part for me has been the response I've been getting from teenagers," the Koloff matriarch told CP. "I've been getting emails from teenagers every day saying 'I wish my parents could be like you,' which is sad because some parents aren't as involved in their children's lives."
Although Kolby's father Nikita does not live with his daughter, he hopes others can take something from his co-parenting situation.
"What I hope we do if we do this right is minister to a lot of fathers out there who didn't have a good relationship with their father, who will see that it is possible to have a good relationship with your children," he said.
Kolby has not given in to the lustful temptations presented in her life, and revealed that being raised in a household with preachers does not mean that people have to fall victim to those temptations.
"I just want to show that not every teenager is out there giving into every temptation going on because I'm not," Kolby told CP. "And I think everybody sees that."
Preachers' Daughters airs on Lifetime network Tuesday nights at 10 p.m. ET.
