'Pretty Little Liars' Season 4 Star Ryan Guzman on Jake and Aria's Romance

Ryan Guzman, who plays Jake on the ABC Family hit drama "Pretty Little Liars," recently discussed how his character fits into the show, and what he expects from fans.

Guzman, who is a Mexican-American actor, recently sat down for an interview with NBC Latino.

Guzman plays Jake on "Pretty Little Liars," who is Aria's karate instruction. But he serves as more than just a martial arts instructor- he also helps Aria get over ex-boyfriend Ezra, and sparks fly between Aria and Jake at almost every interaction.

"I know some of the fans don't love my character," Guzman told NBC Latino. "But I think I've persuaded a few to join Team Jake. There's a budding interest there, but I'll leave it for fans to speculate whether it's going to grow or fade."

Off-screen, Guzman and Lucy Hale, who plays Aria on the show, have a strong relationship.

"We have a really great relationship. We joke a lot, send lots of funny tweets back and forth. Filming with her has been a blast," Guzman explained.

So perhaps the on screen sparks between Jake and Aria stem from off screen sparks between Guzman and Hale? Seems possible, despite the fact that Guzman says he and Hale are just friends.

Guzman previously provided some information about the Jake and Aria potential love story.

"Without giving away too much … There is a budding spark between them that no one is really sure how to act on it. Aria has got her baggage - she just broke up with her boyfriend and a person trying to kill her - and Jake is just new to this whole world," he revealed to The Hollywood Reporter. "He really likes the girl but he doesn't want to overstep his boundaries."
