'Pretty Little Liars' Season 6B: Girls Still Hiding Some Secrets

"Pretty Little Liars" may feature more mature versions of the main characters when it returns for season 6B in January, but the girls will still be harboring dirty little secrets.

A new poster for "Pretty Little Liars" season 6B was first featured on Entertainment Weekly to give fans a taste of what to expect when the series returns next year. The poster features Aria (Lucy Hale), Spencer (Troian Bellisario), Hanna (Ashley Benson), Ali (Sasha Pieterse), and Emily (Shay Mitchell) five years older and keeping a big pile of dirt — in the literal sense — inside a car, according to Ace Showbiz.

The poster is full of hints about the upcoming midseason. While the five main characters are together in the picture, Alison is clearly standing by herself ,while Hanna is paired with Emily, and Spencer is standing beside Aria. The latter is also noticeably eyeing Alison in a suspicious manner.

Aside from that, the photo shows a sign bearing the name of their hometown Rosewood, which they left after college. But something sinister will bring them back to the town after five years. Taking into consideration the dirt spilling from the front seat of the car, the poster may hint that the girls are still keeping a lot more secrets, the International Business Times reports.

During the midseason premiere, the girls will receive threats once they return to Rosewood. Five years ago, the threats they got were all about smaller issues. But this time, they will be immersed in blackmail and more life-threatening situations.

In the "5 Years Forward" special, Bellisario revealed that their characters will know that the threatening messages are not from Charlotte and that the situation is more dangerous this time.

"Pretty Little Liars" returns for season 6B on Jan. 12, 2016 at 8 p.m. on ABC Family. The channel will be called Freeform starting next year.
