PS4 News: Marketing for Console Leaks, 'Greatness Awaits,' Says Sony

Sony proclaims that "Greatness Awaits" in a new ad for the PS4 which leaked onto the internet.

The script for this advertisement was obtained from a company that was working on a PlayStation 4 marketing campaign for Sony. It is written for a commercial that will start off showing an empty road in a small town and follow a lone man walking down the road towards the camera as he's slowly joined by others.

The actual dialogue in the script was published by IGN.com. It ends with one of the characters asking "Who are you to deny greatness? If you would deny it to yourself you deny it to the entire world." That line is followed by the text "Greatness Awaits," flashing on the screen just before the PlayStation logo appears.

IGN.com reached out to Sony for comment, however, the company did not respond regarding the script. Towards the end of the trailer, a flag bearing the "Destiny" symbol is shown from a window, which could point to this ad being for the actual game, and not the console.

The site that leaked the script, Siliconera, claims it was from the same source that leaked a PSP "Step Your Game Up" ad that ended up actually being released.

The PS4 gaming console was unveiled earlier this year and it features the Dualshock 4 controller, which comes equipped with the new "Share" button.

This "Share" button allows players to broadcast their gameplay to others on the PlayStation network. However, developers can disable this option at times when they don't want the player to share a certain part of their game that might give too much away, according to Sony Worldwide Studios president Shuhei Yoshida.

"There will be parts of a game that the maker does not want people to be able to see," said Yoshida in an interview with Japanese game site 4Gamer. "For example, on Vita, developers can in certain scenes disable the feature that lets users take a screenshot, and (the Share function) will have a similer mechanism. The creator may not want to make video of the final boss sharable, for instance."
