The new Gold Wireless Headset will be released by Sony as well and it features 7.1 surround sound with custom modes developed specifically for PlayStation games. It will also feature a noise canceling microphone and will retail for $99.99. It is compatible wirelessly with PS4, PlayStation 3 and computers an can be connected to PS Vita with an audio cable.

Both the Gold and Pulse headsets will be compatible with the free Headset companion app which will be available in the PlayStation Store later on this month. It allows players to download developer created sounds modes tailored for the game's audio. It will launch with a mode designed by Sucker Punch for InFamous: Second Son.

The Xbox One software update that will improve social features on the console will be released in March.

A report from IGN.com confirmed that the new patch will be available in two months' time.

Microsoft's chief product officer Marc Whitten recently discussed this update with Engadget stating that it will consolidate features such as Friend Lists, Parties, Avatars and Achievements all into one place to address some of the complaints of players who said they were too spread out.

"The feedback we've gotten is pretty valid," he said. "Some of the social stuff is hidden or harder to use than it was on the Xbox 360. So you're gonna see us come out with an update where, well, we're going to fix those things."
