Rashida Jones Urges John Travolta to 'Come Out' of the Closet; Actor Turns to Scientology

Rashida Jones encouraged actor John Travolta to "come out," making reference to his rumored homosexuality that he has always refuted. Travolta has been the subject of rumors about his sexuality and has adamantly denied being homosexual. Jones, however, said, "big stars need to come out."

Jones and former boyfriend Will McCormack spoke with SpinningPlatters.com about their new movie "Celeste and Jesse Forever," but the conversation quickly changed course and led to a frank discussion of other celebrities' sexualities.

"There needs to be, like, a professional athlete that comes out," suggested McCormack, apparently promoting the controversial lifestyle.

"And a movie star! It's time … Like John Travolta? Come out! Come on. How many masseurs have to come forward? Let's do this," Jones agreed.

Travolta is, of course, married to Kelly Preston, and the pair has had three children together. Son Benjamin was just born in 2010, one year after the death of Travolta's oldest son, Jett. Travolta and Preston have been married since 1991 and have survived the loss of a child and numerous rumors about Travolta's sexuality.

He has recently been in court after several male cruise workers and masseurs accused him of sexual assault. Travolta largely remained silent as more and more people came forward, but he finally broke the silence and filed documents refuting the claims and asking for the lawsuit to be dismissed.

Travolta and Preston are both Scientologists and have made the cult's beliefs a prominent part of their lives. Both Preston and Travolta have credited Scientology with saving their relationship after Jett's death in 2009.

"We work hard every day with our church on healing," Travolta told the press at the premiere of "From Paris With Love." "Kelly and I and Ella have all been working very hard, and they've been helping us. I think this whole year, every day, we've been working on stabilizing ourselves and it's been successful so far."

Now it appears as though the practices of Scientology are helping Travolta and Preston manage this storm as well.
