Ray J's Wedding Gift to Kim Kardashian: Almost $50,000 in Sex Tape Profits
Ray J's wedding gift to Kim Kardashian and Kanye West is about $47,000— the last four months' profit from his infamous 2007 sex tape with the soon-to-be-bride. The crude gesture from the R&B singer comes only days before the Yeezus rapper and the E! reality star are to be married in Paris, France.
Ray J's wedding gift represents sales from his sex tape from Kim Kardashian. The four months' profit is $6,135.60 in January, $20,097.31 in February, $9,674.76 in March and $10,931.52 in April for a total of $46,840.13. The profits only represent Ray J's half of the money, as Kim Kardashian receives money too, according to TMZ.
The 7-year-old sex tape that catapulted Kardashian to stardom and infamy has grossed over $50 million so far, Vivid Entertainment revealed. The R&B singer and little brother of Brandy said that if Kardashian doesn't accept the wedding gift he'll donate the profits to her favorite charity.
After social media users got wind of Ray J's mean gesture, they sounded off on the singer.
"Kim K has had two husbands, a baby, and finally got to touch Beyonce. Ray J still trying to make the sextape relevant," @Liberiangyal tweeted.
"Ray J is the guy who still wears his varsity jacket every chance he gets but graduated in 96," @the_blueprint added.
"Ray J is the Michael Jordan of petty," another user agreed.
This isn't the first time the R&B singer has attempted to stir up controversy. Ray J also released a song and music video last year called "I Hit It First." To promote the song he used a blurred picture of Kim Kardashian in a bathing suit.
Kim Kardashian and Kanye West's wedding will take place May 24, according to their recently revealed wedding invitation.
"The honour of your presence is requested at the marriage of Kim Kardashian to Kanye West," the card begins.
"Saturday, the twenty-fourth of May, two thousand and fourteen. Details upon arrival. Black tie," it adds before going on to provide details of the wedding rehearsal dinner to take place in "Paris, France."
