Bush Traded to Miami Dolphins
Reggie Bush is set to leave his 2009 Super Bowl championship winning team, the New Orleans Saints, to join the Miami Dolphins.
Adam Schefter, ESPN’s NFL analyst, revealed the big trade on Thursday morning, less than one week after the official new labor agreement was agreed upon between NFL owners and players. Bush has signed a two-year contract with the Dolphins, according to Schefter.
Bush, a number two pick in the 2006 draft, was reportedly ready to leave New Orleans after the Saints drafted rookie RB Mark Ingram from Alabama, according to USA Today.

“It’s been fun New Orleans,” Bush tweeted in April, after news of Ingram joining the Saints surfaced.
Bush, a former USC Heisman Trophy winner, is reportedly being released from the Saints so that the team could avoid paying an $11.8 million base salary that he would have earned this season, according to ESPN.
Although Bush is known for changing the pace of games and averaging 59 receptions per season, injuries caused the young running back to only play eight games last season. The RB also previously tore his posterior cruciate ligament in 2007, his meniscus in 2008 and bruised a knee in 2009.
Each injury caused Bush to miss at least two weeks out of his season, making 2006 the only season Bush played in its entirety.
Miami is taking a chance on Bush, whose rushing/receiving yard numbers have declined every year since his rookie year in 2006, according to the New Orleans Times-Picayune. However, the RB currently holds the position for having the second-most touchdown receptions among RBs in the NFL.
According to The Miami Herald, the Bush acquisition for Miami may end the Dolphin careers of Ronnie Brown and Ricky Williams, who are both free agents this season.
Aside from Bush, the Dolphins are also working on a deal to acquire quarterback Kyle Orton from the Denver Broncos.
