Ric Flair Returning to 'Raw' on Monday Night

The "Nature Boy" Ric Flair is scheduled to make his grand entrance on "Raw" and "Smackdown" next week, though it's unknown what role he will play in the WWE. He is the latest in a series of returning superstars for the industry.

This week saw the return of The Miz and Chris Jericho, who promptly got into a fight and battled it out in the ring, with Jericho getting the best of The Miz. Bret "The Hitman" Hart also made a guest appearance since the show was in Canada. While he didn't compete, his appearance was enough to get fans on their feet.

There has been quite a bit of talk surrounding Flair's return. Reports stated that he had a bit of a drinking problem that Triple H wanted him to sober up and get cleaned up before he could make his reappearance in the WWE. Now he has cleared the final hurdle – a WWE medical exam – and will likely make his return on Monday night during "Raw" in Virginia.

Flair will take on a mentoring role for The Miz, who desperately needs some image improvement. Going up against Jericho is a daunting task, as Jericho has the WWE Universe eating out of his hand and craving his return. His return was greeted by a cheering crowd, while The Miz received a lukewarm welcome and Jericho earned praise from the crowd when he told The Miz to "shut up."

Flair, a fan favorite, is likely to challenge the Authority as well, given that he once voiced support for The Shield. He may now turn against the Authority and decide to try and take control of the reigns, much as Steve Austin and Mick Foley did before him. Flair will be staying around, at least until SummerSlam, on a regularly occurring basis, making for an interesting storyline.

Look for Flair to return with a bang on "Raw" Monday, July 14.
