Ridley Scott's 'Prometheus 2' to Begin Filming in January 2016
The long expected follow-up to Ridley Scott's 2012 sci-fi thriller "Prometheus" has gone past the pipeline stage and will begin production early next year.
Director Ridley Scott, who has been pushing to make "Prometheus 2" for quite some time now, will soon be getting his wish when the second movie of his science fiction adventure film starts shooting in January 2016.
Hype had earlier started to build around news of a second "Prometheus" movie ever since it was announced as being in development as early as last March. It is geared to follow right on the heels of "The Martian," another Scott-directed alien planet survival film starring Matt Damon that's due out in theaters on October this year.

The "Prometheus" films form part of Scott's "Alien" franchise, and are meant to be the fifth and sixth prequels which detail the story leading up to the events in the previous four installments that ran from the 1979 original to 1997's "Alien: Resurrection."
Michael Fassbender and Noomi Rapace, who both starred in the first "Prometheus" and played an android maintenance man and archaeologist, respectively, are set to return for "Prometheus 2."
While the plot for the film has yet to be revealed, the movie will reportedly be focusing on the engineers introduced during the first film and their home planet and feature multiple Davids, Fassbender's android character.
According to Scott, the Xenomorphs from the original "Alien" franchise won't be making an appearance in the second movie.
The first "Prometheus" starred Charlize Theron, Guy Pearce, and Idris Elba, and grossed over $400 million in the box office, making it the highest earning "Alien" installment.
"Prometheus 2," to be written by Michael Green, who is co-writing the "Blade Runner" sequel, has been scheduled for a March 4, 2016 outing in theaters.
