Rihanna and Chris Brown Hitting MTV VMA Stage Together?

Rihanna and Chris Brown are both reportedly gearing up to attend the 2012 MTV Video Music Awards on Sept. 6, and the two may also hit the stage together.

Rihanna, 24-year-old Barbadian pop star, is scheduled to perform at the upcoming VMA's where 22-year-old Grammy Award-winning Brown is also expected to attend. However sources recently revealed that the former couple who separated after a domestic dispute in 2009 may be open to presenting an award with each other.

A Hollywood Life source close to Rihanna recently revealed that the singer would not mind appearing on stage with her former boyfriend.

"That's obvious. Hell yeah, she would. [There isn't anything] she wouldn't do for [him]," the source reportedly said. "She'd do just about anything for him.''

A source close to Brown reportedly echoed the same sentiments to Hollywood Life.

"Why wouldn't he," the source close to Brown reportedly questioned. "It would be the first time in a long…time that he would be on stage with his boo."

Although Brown has served probation after reportedly striking Rihanna three years ago, the two reunited publicly with their music this year. Rihanna hopped on the remix of Brown's "Turn Up The Music," while he added vocals to her "Birthday Cake Remix."

According to The Dream, who produced the "Birthday Cake" remix collaboration between Rihanna and Brown, it was her idea to record the song with her formerly abusive ex-boyfriend.

"It was Rih's idea," The Dream said in an E! Networks report. "I think [the topic] that should be more on the tongues is: How do we proclaim to be a nation of forgiving…but we can't actually do it? If [Rihanna] can forgive, that's where she is mentally."

The singer spoke to radio host Ryan Seacrest about her and Brown's music being innocent despite their troubled pasts. According to the Barbadian pop star, she wants her and Brown's fans to come together.

"We did two records. One for my fans. One for his fans, and that way our fans can come together," she told Seacrest. "There shouldn't be a divide. You know? It's music, and it's innocent."

While neither party confirmed appearing on stage together at the upcoming award show, some of their fans requested that they do so.

"Please @rihanna and @chrisbrown we wanna see you on stage together again... @rihannanavy #teambreezy," one Rihanna fan tweeted.

Another fan of the pair requested that they hit the stage together to perform.

"Hey @MTV , make sure you guys will show an epic exhibition of CHRIANNA on vmas," a fan tweeted. "WE NEED @chrisbrown and @rihanna performing!"

While no official word has come from MTV about a joint performance or award presentation coming from the pair, fans can watch what happens with the former couple live on Sept. 6.
