Robin Gibb, Bee Gee Hospitalized Again

Bee Gees singer Robin Gibb has entered the hospital again after undergoing intestinal surgery over the weekend.

Earlier this year the 62-year-old Brit was reported to have been near death after a colon cancer diagnosis, but Gibb beat the odds and his health was looking up.

Despite the "spectacular" recovery in February, Gibb's publicist announced Wednesday that the singer and songwriter was recovering in the hospital and that he was forced to cancel numerous public appearances.

"On Sunday 25 March, Robin Gibb underwent further intestinal surgery," explained the Bee Gee singer's spokesperson. "Robin underwent the operation successfully, he is awake and has been talking to his doctors."

Gibb has canceled performances that were lined up ahead of the debut of "Titanic Requiem," a work he composed with his son in honor of the 100th anniversary of the ship's sinking. The concert scheduled on the day of the album's premiere still remains, as of now.

In 2003 Maurice Gibb, Robin's twin brother, died at 53 of a twisted colon caused by a congenital defect that Robin also shares.

In 2010 Gibb underwent an emergency operation for a twisted colon, and his operation Sunday was intended to remove a dangerous blood clot from his intestine as a follow-up to the 2010 surgery, according to The Australian.

While the intestinal issue is not directly related to his colon cancer, the "How Deep Is Your Love" singer's health is in danger.

Last month, Gibb appeared upbeat and nonchalant about his intestinal issues.

"It's all simple," Gibb told BBC Radio 2. "I was diagnosed with a growth in my colon. It was removed. And I've been treated for that by a brilliant doctor, and their own words 'the results have been spectacular.'"

Gibb added that while his eating has changed during the intestinal treatment, that his appearance has not changed much.

"I love food, I love eating," said the singer to BBC in February. "I've always been thin. If you go back to when we first started I've always been skinny. It's hard for me to put on weight."

The Bee Gees band consisted of Gibb and his brothers, Maurice and Barry, who became one of the most successful pop groups of all time. The brothers were hailed for their catchy hits such as "Stayin Alive" and "Night Fever" during the 70's. The Bee Gees coveted over 200 million record sales during their career, which spanned seven decades.
