'Rogue Trooper Redux' Nintendo Switch Release Date News: Game To Be Launched Alongside Other Versions This Month

Alongside its release to the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC, "Rogue Trooper Redux" edition will also make its way to the Nintendo Switch. All versions are currently available for pre-order and will launch together on Oct. 17.

Rebellion has confirmed that the pioneering tactical shooter and landmark comic book adaptation is coming to the hybrid console. Originally launched back in 2006, the new redux edition features a remastered game revitalized in true high definition.

Based on the legendary British comic "2000AD," the game has a surprisingly healthy cult following thanks to its bleak industrial setting and slyly humorous storytelling with themes of betrayal and revenge. The game was nominated for two BAFTAs for its screenplay, written by Gordon Rennie, and the character Rogue.

Players take on the role of Rogue, one of the many blue-colored super-soldiers created with one purpose in mind: war. Resembling Doctor Manhattan from the "Watchmen" series with his glistening abs, Rogue is genetically superior to increased intelligence and an extreme proficiency with firearms.

However, their abilities cannot prepare him or his squad mates for the hell that waits upon Nu-Earth. In this hellish landscape, they have slaughtered apart from Rogue who, from the biochips of his brethren, creates all sorts of powerful weaponry by inserting their "souls" into equipment.

Despite the being remastered for a new generation of consoles, "Rogue Trooper Redux" still shows its age in terms of visuals and mechanics. Nevertheless, a new coat of digital paint still goes a long way in revitalizing this decade-old classic.

The improvements go beyond graphics as well. While definitely not mind blowing, Rebellion has made some noticeable improvements that make it more straightforward to play.

Looking for an action-packed blast from the past featuring blue super soldiers? Pre-order "Rogue Trooper Redux" now for only $24.99.
