Samsung Galaxy S3 Android 4.1.2, JellyBean Update for Verizon Creates Issues With LTE

Verizon rolled out its Samsung Galaxy S3 Android 4.1.2, JellyBean update for customers last week.

The rather large upgrade brought many new features to the device along with some new problems. Verizon customers have reported that they have been experiencing severe issues with 4G LTE since performing the update on their smartphones.

Sites such as Android Authority recommend not downloading the update until these problems are fixed. Some of these users who are complaining are only getting one or two bars on 4G LTE, and their data speeds have slowed to a crawl.

A factory reset will not correct this issue either. Most users will have to wait for Verizon and Android to fix the problem themselves.

With the update, the smartphone now has features that were first released for the Galaxy Note 2 including multi-window multitasking and multi-screen. It will also have S Beam's Auto Share Shot along with some bug fixes and other features which can be seen in the company's official change-log for the Galaxy S3.

The NFC feature has been improved with the update, as it will now be easier to turn on. Burst shot will not be the default setting on the stock Camera application and a web browsing issue that caused the S3 to reset has also been corrected.

The update is 129MB and can be downloaded over-the-air. Users can access it by going into Settings > About Phone > System updates. Once that is done, users can tap the Restart and Install button to finish the upgrade. When it is finished, the new software version will be JZO54K.I535VRBMD3. The update has not been officially confirmed by Verizon at this time.
