Samsung Galaxy S4 Processor Doubles Benchmarks From iPhone 5 and BlackBerry Z10

The Samsung Galaxy S4's 1.9GHz Snapdragon 600 doubled the speed of both the iPhone 5 and BlackBerry Z10 chipsets in a recent GeekBench rating.

The Galaxy S4 was compared to all of the flagship devices being offered by other companies including LG, HTC, BlackBerry and Apple. The device's processor paired with its 2GB RAM seemed to crush the competition.

The Octa-core version of the Galaxy S4 is expected to be even faster than the version that was used in this test. In terms of speed, the closest smartphone to Samsung's is the HTC One, which is expected to launch in the coming weeks. The LG Nexus 4 ranked third followed by the quad-core Galaxy S3, iPhone 5, BlackBerry Z10, and dual-core Galaxy S3.

The competition between smartphones seems to be getting more and more fierce as BlackBerry CEO Thorsten Heins recently called the iPhone old news in an interview with the Australian Financial Review.

After praising Apple for its innovation with the original iPhone and bringing touch devices to the market, Heins went on to say that the company might now be a step behind the rest.

"History repeats itself again I guess … the rate of innovation is so high in our industry that if you don't innovate at that speed you can be replaced pretty quickly," he said. "The user interface on the iPhone, with all due respect for what this invention was, is now five years old."

HTC also made a declaration recently that it was going to change its marketing strategy, tailoring it after Samsung, who made the Galaxy S3 famous by pitting it directly against Apple's iPhone.

Samsung had a huge year in 2012, doing well with the Galaxy S3. The Galaxy S4 is expected to sell at an even faster rate this year.
