Samsung Galaxy S7 Release Date in February 2016 Leaked

The Samsung Galaxy S7 may be released earlier than initially expected, based on information leaked by a Chinese network provider.

The leaked images contain a presentation of slides for the upcoming February launch of the Samsung Galaxy S7. The photos showing the slides also indicate that a Galaxy S7 Edge will also be released, according to Kit Guru.

The rumored February launch of the Galaxy S7 comes as a departure from the previous flagship introductions that fell during the second quarter of the year. However, a February release is still not guaranteed even if Samsung will be able to unveil the unit on the same month, the report details.

It can be remembered that Samsung announced the Galaxy S6 in March but the model was released in April, the report notes.

While a February release will shorten the life cycle of the Galaxy S6, the strategy will still present an advantage to the South Korean tech giant. Forbes says this will allow Samsung to launch its latest flagship device way ahead of the next iPhone, the report relays.

Samsung's next flagship lineup could be released in three sizes including the 5.2-inch screen for the Galaxy S7, a 5.5-inch screen for the Galaxy S7 Edge, and the 6-inch screen for the Galaxy S7 Plus. All three are rumored to have Super AMOLED Quad HD displays, Examiner reports.

In addition, Samsung's new Galaxy S lineup could also run on the Snapdragon 820 chip and have 4 GB of RAM. The Galaxy S7 will come with a 20-megapixel camera with optical image stabilization and phase detection, the report adds.

There are also other reports saying the Galaxy S7 could see the return of the microSD card slot. The Galaxy S6 marked the death of the memory expansion option when it was launched in 2015.

Other rumored specs and features of the Galaxy S7 include an improved fingerprint scanner, quick charging, Type C USB port, and a more powerful battery. The flagship unit is also expected to sport the same glass and aluminum unibody design.

While the exact release date of the Samsung Galaxy S7 is still unconfirmed, there are rumors saying it will coincide with the Mobile World Congress in February, which will be held in Barcelona, Spain.
