Sandy Dahl Dies: Wife of 9/11 Pilot Dead at 52
Sandy Dahl, who is the wife of the pilot of United Airlines 93, which crashed in Pennsylvania on 9/11, has died aged 52.
The Captain Jason M. Dahl Scholarship Fund made the announcement of her death, saying that she died on Friday during her sleep from natural causes.
Dahl, who was a former United Airlines flight attendant, had spoken publicly many times about how she believed her husband united with passengers to fight terrorists who had taken over the flight. Because of their heroic actions the plane crashed outside Shanksville, Penn., about 75 miles southeast of Pittsburgh. It is believed that the terrorists had planned to crash the plane into the Capitol or the White House.

Nearly 3,000 people died in the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks on the United States, with the majority dying after the Twin Towers of the World Trade Center collapsed after being hit by two hijacked planes.
Capt. David Dosch, president of the Jason Dahl Scholarship Fund, has said of Jason and Sandy Dahl: "Both of them were my best friends. Unfortunately, both of them had a short period of time to enjoy their company."
Patrick White, president of Families of Flight 93, said Saturday in a statement: "Sandy's courage picked up where her husband's left off. Her dedication to completing the Flight 93 National Memorial as a way to honor her husband's heroic actions on 9-11, and those of his fellow crew members and passengers, is a significant part of her legacy."
