Sarah Palin Chewing Tobacco: Palin Attacks Bloomberg's Tobacco Initiative at NRA Convention (VIDEO)

Former vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin has threatened to start chewing tobacco following Mayor Michael Bloomberg's new initiative proposed for New York City.

Bloomberg has said he would like to ban public displays of legal tobacco products.

In response, Palin, addressing an NRA Convention in Houston on Friday, has said that she would protest against Bloomberg's plans by starting to chew tobacco. In addition, she said that she'd also start drinking Big Gulps, in reference to Bloomberg's law restricting the sale of larger sugary soda drinks.

As Palin addressed the NRA, she was wearing a "Women Hunt" t-shirt, and brought cheers from the crowd when she pulled out a tin of tobacco from her pocket.

She said, "Now I see that the mayor of New York now wants to ban public displays of legal tobacco products … I tell ya … Don't make me do it."

Palin didn't in fact start chewing on the tobacco, but her threat was a popular message in front of the riled up crowd.

At the end of her speech, the former vice presidential candidate received a standing ovation from attendees at the convention.

Palin's attack on Bloomberg follows a similar one she made earlier this year during her CPAC speech. At that time she brought a Big Gulp with her on stage to rebuke and protest against Mayor Bloomberg's initiative to help cut obesity in New York City.

This week Palin spoke about tobacco, and also addressed gun laws and what she insisted was mis-information in the media.

She claimed that many politicians such as President Barack Obama has "exploited" tragedies such as the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting to try and push gun control laws.

She said, "It's the opposite of leadership. It's the manipulation of the people by the politicians for their own political ends. It's not just self-serving. It's destructive and it must stop."
