Saudi Women with 'Tempting Eyes' May be Forced to Cover Them
In a shocking response to women’s rights in Saudi Arabia, some women may be forced to cover more, including eyes.
Women with “tempting eyes” in Saudi Arabia may be forced to cover them up, according to Sheikh Motlab al Nabet, a spokesperson for the Committee for the Promotion of Virtue and the Prevention of Vice in the conservative Gulf Kingdom.
News website Bikyamasr reported that the CPVPV is repeatedly accused of human rights violations. Founded in 1940, its function is to ensure Islamic laws are not publicly broken in Saudi Arabia.

Bikyamasr said the committee, in 2002, refused female students to leave a burning school in Mecca, because the students were not wearing correct head cover. The decision contributed to the high death toll of 15 people killed in the fire.
The CPVPV spokesperson said the committee had the right to stop women revealing "tempting" eyes in public.
Women in Saudi Arabia already need to cover their hair, and, in some regions, their faces while in public. If they do not, the women face punishments, including fines and public floggings.
According to USA Today, the recent announcement follows “a report in the Saudi newspaper al-Watan that a Saudi man was hospitalized after fighting with a member of the committee that had ordered his wife to cover her eyes.”
There are fears that the Saudi’s have gone too far with enforcing Islamic laws and restrictions on women.
“This type of extremism has absolutely nothing to do with God,” commented user Crusha on USA Today’s website. “This is just more proof that religion and believing in God are two different things.
