'Scandal' Season 3 Spoilers: Grant Kids Take Front and Center
"Scandal" season three returns to ABC with another installment entitled "Momma Said Knock You Out" on Thursday with fans wondering what is next for Olivia Pope.
The March 27 episode will feature the children of President Fitz Grant (Tony Goldwyn) and Mellie (Bellamy Young). According to a past interview with Young, "Mama Said Knock You Out" sheds never-before-seen light on the Grant family.
"We had many happy years as a family, but they have been through a rocky road these last few years," the actress previewed, according to TV Line. "You read ugly things about your parents in the paper and on the Internet, so yeah, we'll meet them in a fraught moment. You can imagine teenagers in this situation and how they might react!"
Young admitted that teens are difficult to handle for everyone, including for her "Scandal" character.
"It so humanizes Fitz and Mellie to see them try and parent," she said. "Nothing can undo you like your own teenagers!"
As for Fitz and Mellie, their marriage remains on the rocks- especially since the First Lady recently grew closer to Fitz's Vice President pick and best friend. Because of the intricate storyline, Young noted that actors on "Scandal" are "incredible, formidable actors who are so capable of carrying this complicated material."
Meanwhile, "Scandal" airs on ABC Thursdays at 10 p.m. EST. The synopsis for "Mama Said Knock You Out" on TV Guide reads: Fitz and Mellie's kids join them for a TV interview at the White House. Elsewhere, Adnan seeks assistance from Harrison; and Rowan cautions Olivia to halt her investigation into B613."
Looking ahead to next week's "Scandal" installment, episode 16 is entitled "The Fluffer," and details have already surfaced online. According to ABC, Abby takes over Olivia's duties at the White House and more. Meanwhile, the team is going to continue to investigate B613, and someone will throw a wrench into Reston's presidential campaign. The episode will also feature guest appearances.
