Selena Gomez, Kidd Kraddick Feud Fueled by Internet Rumors

An Internet rumor recently blew a slight feud between Selena Gomez and Dallas radio host Kidd Kraddick way out of proportion.

On his radio show Monday, Kraddick and other jockeys poked fun at Gomez's recent announcement that her 34-year-old mother is pregnant, cracking jokes about how embarrassed the 19-year-old pop star must be to think of her mother having sex and suggesting that with the paternity scandal surrounding her boyfriend, Justin Bieber, he might have gotten her mother pregnant.

"How weird is that when you're twenty or however old she is?" asked Kraddick.

"I wouldn't want to think my mom's doing that at that age," said co-host Kelly Rasberry. "I would be embarrassed as a teenager."

After a short discussion on women having children later on in life, Rasberry joked that maybe it was Gomez who was pregnant.

"What if Selena Gomez's mother's not the one that's pregnant, Selena's pregnant and mom's doing a cover-up?" she suggested. "Selena's suddenly going to need to rest and recuperate from this world tour, she's going to go into hiding, mom's going to have a baby bump. Nine months from now, that baby's going to pop out, and she's going to raise that baby to protect Selena's image. Justin Bieber's making babies all over the place."

Kraddick retorted with, "What if Justin Bieber got Selena's mom pregnant?"

Neither Gomez nor Bieber were pleased with the segment, taking to Twitter to vent their frustrations. According to various sources, Gomez tweeted, "Kidd I used to look up to you. Talk about me all you want but my mom or my family is crossing the line," while Bieber tweeted, "Smooth kid. real smooth smh."

The posts have since been deleted.

However, internet rumors were somehow spawned that Kraddick said in his show that he wished Gomez' mother would miscarry or have an abortion, which were entirely untrue. Gomez and Bieber fans were outraged and began slamming the radio host and the other jockeys, as well as sending them death threats.

Kraddick addressed the issue in an email to Dfw.com stating, "We are a comedy show and we talk about celebrities…sometimes we're facetious (like in this case) but our listeners get it...Bieber and Selena fans started 'adding in facts' about me saying she should have an abortion or I hope she has a miscarriage. Ridiculous. No one listening to (the show) would conclude that we were slamming Selena or her mother. Which is why we didn't get a single phone call about it from our millions of listeners. Not one e-mail. Not one facebook message. Not one tweet about it."

He added, "I hate that its been twisted into what it's become. I really like and respect Selena and her family. I would never say anything to intentionally hurt them."
